A memorial page for Dave's 1983 Honda Civic!

Ah, what a nice first car.  From the beginning, it liked me.  Only 24000 miles, only costing $2500 in the summer of 1991.  Stephanie and I drove it across the country out to Stanford, and it served me well for 9 years, carrying all my earthly possessions at several points, carrying theatre stuff at others.  I accumulated more than $1000 in parking tickets with this car (you can see some in the first picture if you look hard enough). My ownership of the car started in Iowa, and the car resided in California during the majority of the time I owned it.  It visited Colorado, Vegas, Tahoe, and Carmel, and made the trek from Stanford to the ocean many times.  It carried Lisa and I around when we first were married, and, surprisingly for me, never got me into any accidents.  For that matter, I only got one moving violation in the car -- for running a stop sign at 3am after doing some theatre stuff.  Also, it carted me around when I was first at Berkeley, quite reliably handling the drive from Berkeley down to Blue Pumpkin (Palo Alto, then Mountain View, then Sunnyvale).

Then came old age for the car.  It became a bit ornery in the mornings, and would require some careful encouragement to get up the big hills in Berkeley.  It got into the hands of a nefarious auto mechanic after konking out on me near Stanford, and never was the same after that.   Eventually, we decided to donate the car to a local charity specializing in education programs for low-income families.

These pictures were taken in front of my house, which you can see behind me in the next picture.
