 Somewhat random things about me as of July 2003:

  • I'm presently working at BodyMedia after just having moved to Pittsburgh in August 2002.
  • I've graduated from UC Berkeley with a PhD in Computer Science with a focus on Artificial Intelligence. 
  • My dissertation is titled Programmable Reinforcement Learning Agents, and is available!
  • My out-of-date UC Berkeley web site is here.
  • Informatics covers both data mining and machine learning.
  • I helped start and worked part time for six years at Blue Pumpkin Software, a company that makes workforce management software.
  • I am a part-time member of Just Passing Through, LLC, and we design (and play in) games like this and this.
  • I've published many academic articles, hold several patents, and am the author of a book on Genetic Programming.
  • I like to play bridge, go, chess, and rock-climb when I can find the time.
